Joint Degrees and Certificates
JOINT MASTER’S PROGRAM IN JEWISH EDUCATION
Students matriculated at the College who are interested in specializing in education may opt to enroll in the Master of Arts in Jewish education program at Gratz College. Coursework at RRC satisfies all relevant Jewish studies requirements. Two RRC education courses also may be applied to the seven graduate courses in education required for the master’s degree at Gratz College.
An internship under the supervision of a joint RRC-Gratz committee also is required. For information on Gratz College’s Master of Arts in Jewish education program, contact Gratz College’s Office of Admissions at 215.635.7300, ext. 140, or 800.475.4635, ext. 140, or e-mail admissions@gratz.edu.
CERTIFICATE PROGRAM IN WOMEN’S STUDIES WITH A CONCENTRATION IN JEWISH WOMEN’S STUDIES
Students admitted to RRC may obtain a certificate in women’s studies with a concentration in Jewish women’s studies. The program is sponsored jointly by the women’s studies program at Temple University and Kolot: The Center for Jewish Women’s and Gender Studies of RRC. Requirements include the following:
- Women’s Studies 400 (Temple University), Introduction to Feminist Studies, providing a basic introduction to feminist theory and gender studies
- two elective courses in feminist studies at RRC, including at least one in Jewish women’s studies. Students may take two of these courses—such as Women in the New Testament Era or Womanist Ethics—or a second course in a related field, at Temple University. Credit may also be granted for one course taken at another institution.
- a research seminar, either Temple’s Women’s Studies 500 or RRC’s Women’s Studies Seminar (The seminar will provide an opportunity for students to share work on final projects with other students in the program; it also will be a forum for dialogue among faculty and students on feminist perspectives and work in progress.)
- a final project (Certificate students will present a final project, which may be a research paper or an original work that contributes to the field of Jewish women’s studies.)
