Arlyne Terri Unger is currently hazzan and educational director of Beth Tikvah-B’nai Jeshurun in Erdenheim, PA. Hazzan Unger also serves as adjunct instructor in nusakh at Gratz College and is secretary of the Delaware Valley Region Cantors Assembly.
Her teaching positions have included appointments as adult education instructor for Gratz College; Judaica teacher/junior congregation leader and music coordinator at Temple Sinai in Dresher, PA; bar/bat mitzvah instructor at Beth Am Israel in Penn Valley, PA; and workshop leader for the Auerbach Central Agency for Jewish Education in Melrose Park, PA. She also has served as cantor of Congregation Mercy and Truth in Pottstown, PA. She is a past president of the Delaware Valley Region of the Jewish Educators Assembly and a past vice president of the Women Cantors’ Network.
Unger earned Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science degrees from the University of Pennsylvania; from Gratz College she earned a bachelor’s in Hebrew literature and dual master’s degrees in Jewish education and Jewish music/cantorial track.
She served as a member of the peer review panel for Z’man L’Tefillah: Books 3 and 4 (A.R.E. Publishing, 1999) and was a contributor to the Case Book for Leadership in Jewish Education.
