Rabbi Moriah Simon Hazani, a native of Jerusalem, is a doctoral candidate at the University of Pennsylvania in the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations. She worked for several years with people with mental disabilities. Hazani received ordination from the Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies (Conservative) in Jerusalem. Before teaching at RRC, she taught Talmud and other courses in rabbinics at the Ziegler School of Rabbinical Studies in Los Angeles, where she also proctored the Bet Midrash. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and Tanakh from Bar Ilan University in Ramat Gan, after serving in the Israeli army.
She lives in Elkins Park with her husband and two daughters.
