Ruth Heiges' diverse professional experience derives extensively from the period of over 25 years that she lived in Israel. After editing two magazines in the field of Israel tourism, she became a managing partner in a firm specializing in marketing communications and publishing. Along with serving prominent commercial clients (including one of the leading Israeli banks, a major hotel chain, and an international jewelry company), the firm was heavily involved in the non-profit sector. Among the organizations it assisted in public affairs, fund raising, and events organization were the Israel Movement for Progressive Judaism, Zahal Disabled Veterans Organization, the Israel Women's Network, and the International Center for Peace in the Middle East.

Upon dissolution of the partnership, Heiges went on to work for Beit Daniel, the Center for Progressive Judaism in Tel Aviv, in the areas of public affairs and resource development. She divided her time between this and continuing to create marketing communications for a range of clients, along with writing feature articles on a variety of topics. These have been published widely in the Jewish press around the world, and she has been a monthly contributor to the Jewish Exponent since October 2002.

After having been deeply involved - both professionally and personally - in the cause of Jewish pluralism and the advancement of women's status within the religion since the 1980s, Heiges feels particularly privileged and gratified to find herself at RRC and Kolot.

She holds a degree in Communications from Penn State.
