Janis Smith received both her Bachelor of Arts in Rhetoric and Communications and her M.Ed. in Educational Media from Temple University. Among her various jobs in the media industry, she has worked as a video editor for the Channel 29 news and SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceutical Company.
 
Smith lived in Israel for five years and worked in the audiovisual department of the Beer Sheva Medical School and Soroka Hospital. As the director of RRC's Becker Media Center, she trains staff and students in the technical workings of the media center; creates multimedia, interactive Hebrew language and liturgy learning tools; and produces in-house video productions of community events and guest speakers.
