Rabbi Amy Klein holds a B.A. degree from the University of California at Irvine and a J.D. degree from UCLA. Formerly a deputy public defender for Los Angeles County, she received rabbinic ordination and a master of arts in Hebrew letters from RRC. Klein served as the director of Israel programs for the Jewish Reconstructionist Federation. She is on the faculty of the Beit Midrash: A Liberal Yeshivah and Ta Shma: Pluralistic Jewish Learning, and she serves on the board of Rabbis for Human Rights. Klein is author of "Shabbat as a Symbol of Salvation," Hayom Ha-Shvi'i, translated into Hebrew by Be'eri Zimmerman (Yediot Ha'aharanot Press, 2001) and writes a column on Israel for Reconstructionism Today.
