Hal Taussig, Ph.D., is visiting professor of New Testament at Union Theological Seminary in New York and co-pastor of the Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church in Philadelphia. His books include Reimagining Life Together in America: A New Gospel of Community (with Catherine Nerney, Rowman & Littlefield, 2002); Jesus Before God: The Prayer Life of the Historical Jesus(Polebridge Press, 1999); Reimagining Christian Origins (editor, with Elizabeth Castelli, Trinity Press International, 1996 ); Many Tables: The Eucharist in the New Testament and Liturgy Today (with Dennis Smith, SCM Press, 1990); Wisdom's Feast: Sophia in Study and Celebration (with Susan Cole and Marian Ronan, Rowman & Littlefield, 1996); and A New Spiritual Home: Progressive Christianity at the Grass Roots (Polebridge Press, 2006).
Taussig is co-chair of the Society of Biblical Literature's Consultation on Meals in the Greco-Roman World and chair of the Consultation on New Testament Studies and the Roman Empire at Union Theological Seminary. He is a founding member of the Jesus Seminar, and a member of the steering committee of the Acts Seminar of the Westar Institute. He is co-editor of the online journal Constellation: Thinking Progressively About Christianity.
