Hazzan Arlyne Terri Unger earned B.A. and M.S. degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, and from Gratz College she earned a B.H.L. in Hebrew literature and dual M.A. degrees in Jewish education and Jewish music/cantorial track. Her teaching positions have included appointments as adult education instructor for Gratz College; Judaica teacher/junior congregation leader and music coordinator at Temple Sinai, Dresher, PA; Bar/Bat Mitzvah instructor at Beth Am Israel, Penn Valley, PA; and workshop leader for the Auerbach Central Agency for Jewish Education, Melrose Park, PA. She has served as cantor of Congregation Mercy and Truth in Pottstown, PA, and is currently hazzan and educational director of Beth Tikvah-B'nai Jeshurun in Erdenheim, PA. She also serves as adjunct instructor in Nusakh at Gratz College.
She is a past president of the Delaware Valley Region, Jewish Educators Assembly, and a past vice president of the Women Cantors' Network. She currently is secretary of the Delaware Valley Region Cantors Assembly. Unger served as a member of the peer review panel for Z'man L'Tefillah: Books 3 and 4 (A.R.E. Publishing, 1999) and was a contributor to the Case Book for Leadership in Jewish Education.
