Your Stay in Israel

Because of Israel’s central importance to Jews everywhere, the RRC curriculum includes a year of study in Israel—usually your second, third or fourth year.

Your extracurricular learning during your stay may embrace the country’s history, archaeology, art, literature, religion, education, politics and society. Programs include: mifgashim, a series of encounter sessions with Israeli contemporaries; archaeology tours; seminars at the Kibbutz Institute; a political tour of Jerusalem and a contemporary cultural tour of Tel-Aviv; visits to grassroots empowerment projects; and conversations with political and social activists of various viewpoints.

The Jerusalem Reconstructionist Minyan is a monthly Shabbat morning minyan sponsored by RRC. The minyan community includes students from RRC and from the many institutions of study in Jerusalem, as well as Israeli citizen graduates of the college. The minyan meets at Hebrew Union College, 13 King David Street, at 9:30 a.m. and hosts a pot-luck dairy lunch following services. The minyan is delighted to welcome visiting individuals, families and groups. For more information and schedule confirmation contact lehadesh@netvision.net.il

College staff members in Israel include the full-time director of the RRC Israel Program, Rabbi Amy Klein.
