REAP offerings are open to all students. In addition, those who wish to delve more intensively into aging issues and the rabbinate can choose to earn a certificate in aging. Read more about the specialization in aging program.
The Mehlman Cycle provides a practical rabbinics curriculum infused with the perspectives of Jewish tradition and academic gerontology. The courses are open to students who seek skills useful to the generalist rabbi and to those who intend to focus their rabbinate on aging. Read more.
The Shades of Gray seminar explores the journey of later life through contemporary Jewish literature and classical texts, role plays, and creating innovative spiritual resources. Read more.
Clinically supervised rabbinic internships with elders are an essential component of preparation in the Rabbinic Education on Aging Program. Internships are offered with elders across the spectrum from well to frail. Interns are supervised by experienced chaplains.
In addition, Friedman offers clinical supervision at RRC for students serving elders in chaplaincy and congregational jobs. Read more.
Hiddur's College Programming Committee generates innovative and engaging co-curricular programming at RRC to enable all students and faculty to address aging issues in the congregations, organizations and communities they serve. Programs have included “Creating Multi-Generational Communities,” “Caring for the Caregiver” and “Confronting Elder Abuse.”
Hiddur has offered a co-curricular series "On Being an Elder," a lunchtime dialogue between the RRC community and a distinguished Jewish elder.
